OVERVIEW
Quidax Earn is a staking product introduced in Quidax 3.0, replacing the legacy USD Savings feature. It allows users to earn on USDT through two models: Flexible plans with continuous access to funds, and Fixed plans with higher returns over defined lock periods.
I led product design end to end, defining the core experience from the Earn dashboard to plan creation, top ups, withdrawals, and transaction history.
THE CHALLENGE
Crypto staking introduces multiple layers of complexity. Yield mechanics, lock periods, asset behavior, and risk. Most users cannot form a clear understanding of how the product works or what decisions they are making.
Users struggled to:
understand how returns are generated
evaluate trade offs before committing funds
predict outcomes after staking
The issue was not missing features. It was a lack of structure.
Structuring the system
Earn was designed as a system with four core principles:
clear product model
decision driven flows
reduced cognitive load
trust through clarity
Clarifying the entry point
Users need to understand what Earn is before interacting with it. Flexible Earn needed to support three user states: first-time users, returning users with an active stake, and the staking flow. The system adapts to each state. “Start Earning” transitions to “Stake More USDT” after the first action, making repeat actions faster. This was later simplified to “Create a plan” and “Top up” to keep the language clear and consistent.
Flexible Earn: create a new plan
The plan details view shows balance and earnings. Users can add to their position or close the plan. Closing triggers full redemption, returns funds to the main wallet, and records the action in history.
The top-up flow is accessed from an active plan. It follows the same pattern as plan creation. Balance updates immediately and the action is recorded in history.
Withdrawal moves funds back to the main wallet without closing the plan. History shows all transactions in one place, with clear inflows and outflows, filtering, and detailed views. This gives users visibility without support.
FIXED EARN
Fixed Earn introduces structured commitment. Users select duration and amount while seeing projected returns update in real-time. The system makes trade-offs visible before commitment, allowing users to make informed decisions. Users can name their plans, creating a sense of ownership that reinforces commitment.
Plan creation updates projected returns in real time and only enables actions once inputs are valid.
Fixed plans show locked funds, duration, and earnings at maturity, with history providing a full record of activity.
Dark mode (Mobile)
Earn was designed for use across different environments, including low-light conditions. Dark mode preserves clarity and hierarchy across key states, including balances, history, and modal flows, without changing how the system is understood.

OUTCOME
Earn reached an average AUM of $1.7M within 3 months without paid acquisition.
Less than 30% of usage came from internal users, showing that the product was understandable without guidance.
Clear structure reduced reliance on support and enabled broader adoption.
REFLECTION
Clarity drives adoption. When users understand how a system works, they are more likely to trust it and act with confidence.
